Our Story
The Outpouring Coffee House started as a small seed planted deep within our hearts. Soon, it became a dream that was larger than life! Here's how it all began...
Heidi needed a little persuading. You see, she already had her own business within a high paying field. She and her husband, Mark, had their life all planned out until...in walks...Taye. After an inspiring spiel, Heidi was also excited. But the two sisters are almost complete opposites: Taye is the dreamer (rarely living in the real world), while Heidi is the tower of strength whose foundation is firmly rooted in "reality"!
After going back and forth, weighing the pros and the cons, Heidi just knew opening a coffee house would throw a wrench into her and Mark's plan. A very big wrench! However, God always has the final say in these girls' lives. So, Heidi took it to the Lord in prayer and very bluntly told Him, "Look, if this is what You want me to do, then send me a letter." That's "practical", right?!! Well, sure enough, days passed and no word from God. Until Heidi pulled a magazine out of the mailbox. It was one she had never heard of, let alone ever received. The front cover read, "Sister, Sister Success is in the Bag"! Heidi took that as her letter from God and jumped on the Coffee House Bandwagon with her sister, Taye. Oh and by the way, to this day, Heidi never has received another issue of that magazine. Coincidence? I think not!
Heidi & Taye know full well that God has orchestrated every piece of the puzzle. Building a business from the ground up isn't easy for anybody, let alone two sisters who have never ventured down this avenue. You could say they were flying by the seat of their pants. But they can testify to countless stories of how God was always two steps ahead of them. He paved the way with his divine favor, led them down the right road, to the right people and even intervened on their behalf. Sound too spiritual for you? Here's another story...Taye was driving around, running some errands. In all of her research, the options for coffee vendors was overwhelming; there were literally thousands of coffee suppliers to choose from. So, while driving, she began to pray and ask for God's direction concerning which coffee supplier to go with. As she turned the corner, onto another street, there was a semi truck turning around smack dab in the middle of the road. Taye had no problem reading the writing on the truck, it was literally perpindicular to her vehicle. It read PARAMOUNT COFFEE. Now if that isn't a God thing, what is?
Please understand this: Heidi & Taye believe with every fiber of their being that there is a God who is full of love and grace. So much so that He sends loves letters and roadblocks to get us moving in the right direction. He is not a God who is legalistic, demanding and waiting to zap us whenever we do wrong. He is a father who loves His creation so much that He gives us our own free will. God lets us choose to love Him back or not.
We believe God told us to start The Outpouring Coffee House & Cafe so we could show the love of God to each and every customer who walked through our door. You won't hear us talk about Christ as much as we demonstrate Christ. The Bible says the Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk, but of power. We all know people who are just a bunch of talk; there is no power in talk unless you walk the walk. But if you ask us why we are happy or how we can be so full of hope? If you ask us what we believe in...we're going to boldly tell you we serve a God who is loving, merciful, gracious and full of limitless power!
